Full of Grace

During prayer a couple of weeks ago, I felt a movement in my heart to create a tapestry for Mary. At that point, I had not made a piece that specifically addressed her, even though I named my business after her intercession at Lourdes!

The image of a woman’s face gazing upward came to mind, and I imagined how her veil would have draped back behind her, cascading down as she continued to look up at the Father. Ripples of blue fabric could look like they were falling backward if I could figure out how to capture her face silhouetted against perhaps a swirling background…

The design carried itself from there. This was the first time I’ve admittedly done appliqué on this scale, and I must say it turned out beautifully! As I was sewing her mantle, I imagined what she might be gazing at, and gold came to mind. Enter in the rays of light.

Now all of a sudden, I was looking at a representation of the Annunciation!

This piece taught me a lot not just about appliqué, but about Our Lady’s intercession. She has taken on a more prominent role in my spiritual life as I’ve been diving deeper into my business and pushing myself to trust in the Lord’s providence. I believe it was her who was moving my heart throughout this piece, and it turned out incredibly beautiful, just as it should with her guidance!

I have in mind now to perhaps tackle a Mysteries of the Rosary series… we shall see what Our Lady desires.

In the meantime, may God bless you and Our Lady watch over you!
