Anima Christi
I first heard this mystical prayer chanted after communion at my home parish, and it was incredibly moving to hear the whole congregation singing this prayer together.
The prayer has been attributed to St. Ignatius of Loyola, but church historians have suggested that it might predate him by over a century. That said, it is included in the opening of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius to orient your heart and mind to God.
Embroidered on a beautiful galaxy fabric with speckles of gold, the words of this prayer remind us of our eternal destination in the arms of Christ.
Pray it often, pray it well. Before long, you may find yourself singing the words just as my parish does after every communion.
